EFT -Emotional Freedom Techniques

EFT aka Tapping  is an easy and excellent technique for releasing the negative emotions and feelings that hold you back or limit your success. Using this method, you can gain the emotional freedom to consciously be, do and have what you want in your life.

EFT is a meridian-based energy therapy developed by Gary Craig from the revolutionary discoveries of Dr Roger Callahan. It is a simple technique to learn and can often give rapid relief from physical and emotional issues.

What follows is a brief introduction and background to this remarkable technique

In 1980, Dr Callahan was working with a patient, Mary, for an intense water phobia. She suffered from frequent headaches and terrifying nightmares, both of which were related to her fear of water. To seek help, she had been going from therapist to therapist for years… with no real improvement. Dr Callahan tried to help her by conventional means for a year and a half.

But he didn’t make much headway.

Then one day he stepped outside the usual “boundaries” of psychotherapy. Out of curiosity, he had been studying the body’s energy system and decided to tap with his fingertips under her eyes (an endpoint of the stomach meridian in acupuncture). Prompted by her complaint of some stomach discomfort. To his astonishment, she shouted that her phobia had disappeared almost like magic and she raced down to a nearby swimming pool and began throwing water in her face.

No fear. No headaches.

It all totally disappeared… including the nightmares and it has never returned, she remained free of her water phobia.

This incident, lead to what is called the Discovery Statement: 

‘‘The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.’’

Dr Callahan has since refined and expanded his findings to a series of related routines. They encompass nearly every area of emotional improvement imaginable… from phobias to panic disorders to sports performance. He has also applied these techniques to physical problems and addictive cravings with notable success.

EFT  TAPPing is based on all these procedures. Gary Craig, a Stanford-trained engineer, reduced years of diligent research and endless trial and error to one practical method which has now been shortened for more simple application with the same effectiveness.

EFT Tapping sessions usually last for an hour and benefits are noticed straight away. Each session builds on the previous one, and you find yourself improving even after the session has finished.

Although EFT is a compelling technique, I am not a healthcare professional, and my therapy sessions are no way intended to promote a medical claim. However, scientific studies and the results provide evidence that has shown EFT to be very useful for mental, emotional and physical health.
